Jim's Bio
Jim is originally from the mid Maryland area. He started in radio in the mid-1970's because he really wanted to be a rock musician or produce records, but didn't know exactly how to get into it, so he took up Broadcasting at the local community college.
 
After interning briefly at a small station, his career was born...his first full time radio job was at WQCM in
Hagerstown, MD. Since then, Jim has worked at WWMX and WBSB in Baltimore and WRQX, WGAY,WBIG and WASH in Washington DC.  Jim moved to Texas in the year 2000, originally living in Austin.  Now he's all ours!
 
When he's not on the air, he also plays guitar and enjoys baseball and football. Jim is married to Sondra and has two daughters, Alicia and Holly, and our Westie, Bogey!

Bronchitis Leads Cher To Nix More Vegas Shows
Cher was forced to cancel her third straight weekend of shows at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace on Saturday because of "asthma-related bronchitis." The gigs were to be her final 2008 concerts at the casino's Colosseum theater; ticket holders were able to opt for a refund or retain passes for a rescheduled date. "Cher looks forward to her return to the Colosseum early next year with performances to be announced soon," reads a statement from Caesars.

Springsteen Exalts Obama at Voter Rally/Concert
Bruce Springsteen delivered an impassioned speech in support of Sen. Barack Obama's bid for the U.S. presidency on Saturday in Philadelphia, at a voter-registration drive that featured a brief acoustic performance from the Boss. "Our sacred house of dreams has been abused, looted and left in a terrible state of disrepair. It needs care . . . It needs someone with Senator Obama's understanding, temperateness, deliberativeness, maturity, compassion, toughness and faith to help us rebuild," remarked Springsteen.
Tina, Rita Go Video Route on Bond Compilation
A new version of a compilation called The Best of Bond . . . James Bond will make its way to retail outlets on Oct. 28. This updated edition will be available digitally, as a CD, or as a CD/DVD combo. Classic Bond tunes from Paul McCartney & Wings, Carly Simon, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, Rita Coolidge and others are featured on the album, with videos from Turner and Coolidge among the seven entries on the DVD.
Mellencamp's Songwriting Saluted by Q
John Mellencamp scooped the Classic Songwriter honor at the Q Awards 2008, which was held Monday in London. Other winners included Meat Loaf's "Bat Out of Hell" (Classic Song) and Pink Floyd singer-guitarist David Gilmour (Outstanding Contribution to Music). Meanwhile, Gilmour and Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde are among the supporters of the newly launched Featured Artists' Coalition, a British-based initiative that seeks to protect the rights of musicians and performers.

Wilson To Sing, Make Art for Charities
Beach Boys' own Brian Wilson and Al Jardine are among the artists slated to perform at the Carl Wilson Tribute 10 Year Anniversary Benefit Concert & Fundraiser, taking place Oct. 19 in West Hollywood, Calif. The organization funds cancer research and benefits those afflicted with the disease. Meanwhile, artwork by Wilson will be up for bids next month at a Prince's Trust auction.
Cole Home After Recent Hospital Stay
Natalie Cole is out of the hospital and recuperating at her home in Los Angeles after suffering a setback last month in her ongoing battle with hepatitis C. "The hepatitis C is pretty much under control," said her rep Maureen O'Connor, who added that the 58-year-old singer will spend most of October on bed rest. O'Connor is optimistic that Cole will resume her tour in November. Her new album, Still Unforgettable, is in stores now.
Young Adds Opener to Trek; Posts Car Clip
Neil Young has tapped Los Angeles-based quintet Everest to be one of the support acts for his upcoming tour, which, as previously reported, kicks off Oct. 14 in St. Paul, Minn. The outing also includes indie rockers Wilco and Death Cab for Cutie. Young, meanwhile, has posted a video update of the progress being made on the conversion of his 1959 Lincoln convertible into an environmentally friendly car.
Tina Rocks Crowd at Tour Opener
Tina Turner's long-awaited comeback tour kicked off with a bang Wednesday, as the legendary diva rocked the crowd at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The set featured sequins, feathers, high heels and higher hemlines, plus a long list of hits like "Proud Mary" and "What's Love Got To Do With It." "Once I saw some of [designer] Bob Mackie's costumes, I started getting excited," Turner says of the tour. Check out clips from opening night here.

Springsteen To Perform at Super Bowl
The National Football League announced Sunday night that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform during the Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show. The big game will take place Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., and will be televised by NBC. Previous halftime entertainers include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones.

Israel Finally Hears McCartney in Concert Setting
Paul McCartney played his first show ever in Israel on Thursday, entertaining more than 40,000 people at Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park. He greeted the crowd in both Hebrew and Arabic during the 30-plus-song performance. Among the highlights was a rendition of "Give Peace a Chance," which was dedicated to late Beatles bandmate John Lennon. "Here tonight you sang it, you want it," McCartney said to the audience, who was singing the chorus back to him.
Young & Co. Want Congress To Focus on Farms
Farm Aid's Board of Directors -- which includes Neil Young and John Mellencamp -- has drafted an open letter to Congress, asking the organization to divert its focus from a $700 billion payout to the corporate sector and look into supplying family farms with $1 billion. "Supporting diverse decentralized family farming will do far more for the stability and vitality of our country than a handful of global agribusiness corporations could ever do," reads the letter.

Live in the Studio Marks Sound of New JT Album
James Taylor eschewed the usual "record each part separately" technique -- and a traditional studio -- for his Covers album, which drops Tuesday. "I got together with all 12 guys that I tour with in my barn that's been converted into a studio to get the same energy of a live show," he explains. Meanwhile, Taylor will appear on Tuesday's Good Morning America, and perform Covers tunes Thursday at a bookstore in Ann Arbor, Mich.
