Steve Perry has said leaving Journey 15 years ago was his choice, and since then he's become "bit of a recluse." Perry told The Hollywood Reporter, "I jumped off the Journey merry-go-round when it was still selling large venues. I got burned out and had to leave."
Journey's resurgence in popularity began back in 2003 when "Don't Stop Believin'" was used in the movie Monster. Journey's current lead singer is Steve Perry sound-alike Arnel Pineda.
Steve Perry went on to say that he is writing music again, but isn't saying whether it's for Journey, a solo project or something else.
