The late Michael Jackson was born on August 20, 1958. He would've been 55 this week. Michael grew up the fifth of six brothers in Gary, Indiana. He first rose to fame in the family group The Jackson 5. Beginning in 1969, The Jackson 5 began to rack up #1 hits, beginning with "I Want You Back."
Beginning in 1979 and through the decade of the 80s, Michael Jackson firmly established himself as the undisputed King of Pop with his albums Thriller and Bad.
Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50. Jackson died of cardiac arrest after collapsing at his home in Los Angeles. His death was ruled a homicide, and his personal physician was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for administering the anesthetic propofol and then trying to cover it up.
